Welcome to the "official SCW season 5 Play-offs thread". You can find the report thread here: (ADDED ON JUNE 3RD.)
ANNOUNCEMENT: We are moving the tournament to the weekend (June 8-10). Tournament starts when both Jose./Zerg- and Spirits can be online at the same time. Please post in this thread at what time you can be online. Please use website time.
- At the conclusion of the season (3rd of June), the top four 1vs1 ranks are seeded according to their rank into the play-off bracket. This means that if someone has two accounts in the top 4, they will get seeded twice. If the person has to play him/herself, one of the two accounts will proceed to the next round.
- There are three rounds. In round one Rank 4 plays versus rank 3 in a Best of 5. In round two the winner of round one plays versus rank 2 in a best of 5. The winner of round two plays versus rank 1 the finals in a best of 7 to determine the winner.
- All matches will be played on the SCW 5 2.0 map or the regular SCW 5 map. (See attachments)
- All matches will be Random vs Random unless the players agree on a mirror match-up.
- Leaving at the start, unless it can be proven your opponent picked a race without an agreement, will results in a loss.
- Disconnecting will result in a loss, unless it can be proven in the replay that you were winning up until the point of disconnection. Players are to provide evidence or a witness that their enemy disconnected. Make a screenshot of your opponents disconnecting.
Prize: $150 1st place & $25 second place.

I'm about to go 600 km from my home to work in central during 9 weeks so i will be able to play only week ends.

23:59 website time today is the ending. Play-Offs will start immediately after that. Players have to post here that they are online and able to play. Players have two days to play their matches or be disqualified. So do your best to make appointments with your opponents when you can both be online.

You're in the second round. That means you have 48 hours after round 1 finishes to play your games. When do you go to Central?

Not sure if buu plays he cans reach top 2 , i can't log in during the week monday tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday... i will be on saturday and sunday only

If you can't play at all during the play-offs period you can choose not to participate. The rankings will shift to rank 1, rank 3, rank 4 and rank 5. Alternatively, if the other players in the top 4 agree, we can move round two and three to the coming weekend (June 9 and 10) if you stay on second rank. That would result in only 12 matches having to be played over the weekend when it is easier for everyone to be online. ALTERNATIVELY to the alternative, we could move the entire tournament to the weekend if all participants agree to it.

Just think , all players should understand lot of participants have life next to sc, family, job, then we can understand 3,4 days to earn money from league. I didnt choosed to work at 600-km with for sure a bad conexion. Imo it should be not z problem to wait week end to end it.

I quit my job because i didn't enjoy it and I didn't need the money I was making from it. That's a lot of free time. I start University in September.

It does but on the other hand I didn't want to risk having to spend too much time running the tourney. At times people have deliberately wasted time or pushed the boundaries just to avoid playing. What could be played in one weekend ends up being dragged out over almost two weeks. A good example is Tyga's tourney from a while ago.

You need to do what works best for them, not what is best for you. You’re not the one playing, they are. It’s literally two series that need to get played. They’ll get played. The three people playing are clearly very active with the amount of games they’ve played this season.
I think you somewhat misinterpreted. None of this was about what's easiest for me to manage. It's all been about what's, in this case, possible for Spirits to ensure he can play. There are other players who have to play too, and dragging it out too much would be unfair to them. However, not giving Spirits at least the chance to participate would in turn be unfair to him. I showed him the options and let him decide which to pursue. How players go about setting up their matches is mostly up to them. Deadlines are purely there to ensure things don't drag on and on.
In my last tournament people would tell me they'd be able to play at X time only to end up saying "oops I am at a party" or "I am at the club right now sorry". That actually happened. At the expense of others they decided to do something else instead of committing to an obligation they took upon themselves. Spirit's situation is different. He actually can't play until the weekend.

Moreover yesterday Chicken had same words about the league when he played more than 200 games...
Personnaly when i think something is stupid or shit... i just don't use it or play it... makes sense isn't it.
And for all haters who blame me cuz i played Seba and Chicken.... don't forget i'm European and with my schedules those 2 players was most active and free to play league for me.

I agree 100%. Aside from all the bm and negativity, I just want to say thank you to Live.sword and Premier. Without you guys, starcraft would never be the same. So thanks for all the effort and continually making this game an outlet of fun.

Bad behaviour has been sufficient reason for players to get fined, receive multiple game suspension or different.

In retrospect it sure is amusing I said this. I am forsaking the tournament. Live.sword will host it instead.

As much as I like the idea of a final tournament for the top 4, to me this season was won by a landslide. The points are not even close from #1 and #2 and they played each other multiple times. In the future for this, I would recommend putting a rule of you must be with in "X" amount of points of first place to be included in the tournament. Just seems silly to have a tournament for a season winner when he won by 500 points. Last season he won by 10 points because of dodging the #2 guy and playing lower ranks instead. You all know I hate Jose and what he represents, but he won the season by a lot. As sad as it is, it's true.

I was also getting ready to drop him with defiler lurker and guards to pave the way. He had nothing to guard his main. I could've easily won the match. PLease give me a rematch!

Even though Gangster]Jose Won, I think the setup for the final tournament is kind of unfair. I know Jose deserve to be in the top 5 spot because his rank proves It but one player having 2 names on top 5 and count those 2 names into the tournament is wrong IMO. If a player plays on 2 account and both manage to get to top 5, one of his account should be discarded from the tournament and bump up the player below him. So basically, the top 5 should be
1. Gangster]jose.
2.Fire.Buu
3.Fire.Spirit
4. Sail
5. Resoud
Gangster]Zerg- should be discard because it's the same person as Jose.
Anyone else agree to this? I think the tournament is not properly setup.

If a player plays on 2 account and both manage to get to top 5, one of his account should be discarded from the tournament and bump up the player below him. So basically, the top 5 should be
1. Gangster]jose.
2.Fire.Buu
3.Fire.Spirit
4. Sail

Gangster]Zerg- should be discard because it's the same person as Jose.
Anyone else agree to this? I think the tournament is not properly setup.
Jose. earned both spots. He didn't work any less hard for his second entry than his first or than any other player worked for their respective spot. By restricting it to 1 entry per person instead of one entry per rank, we will end up hurting active players who don't restrict themselves to a single account. Hard work and investment should be adequately rewarded. I personally like the current iteration. But if enough people are against multiple entries by the same person we'll definitely make changes.
So far people have voiced two legit concerns:
- Two entries same person fair or unfair?
- Only have play-offs if points between ladder leaders are close to one another.
If possible I'd like people their opinions on the above two concerns.

Two entries is totally legitimate and fair, considering all of the effort it took to get there.
As far as whether or not there should be a tournament, I think it should only happen if it's close and if the top players haven't been playing each other due to scheduling conflicts or dodging.

It's about making the tournament fair and organized. Yes you can make as many account as you want to enter the league and PLAY BUT ONLY 1 entry allowed to enter top 5 tournament.

I don't think this will hurt the activness of players if you only allowed one "top 5 tournament entry" per person. Anyone can play on the "league" as many account as they want right? But just not many accounts for top 5 entry if you understand what I mean.

If a player has two accounts in the top 5, how is it fair to nullify one of their accounts entirely?
You didn't present any evidence to back up your second opinion of whether or not it would affect league activity, so it can be pretty easily discarded. Preventing multiple accounts from entering the top 5 literally de-incentivizes that player to even play the games on their second account at all, which in Jose's case, would have been 63 less games. That's quantifiable activity loss.
