For the season 15 finals tournament, if there is going to be one, I want to propose a Best of X concept to make a set less RNG dependent on race match ups.
The concept:
- Best of X Series starts with a mirror match-up chosen by players.
- Loser of a match picks next race match-up. Each match-up can be played once.(9 Options: PvP, PvZ, ZvP, PvT, TvP, TvZ, ZvT, TvT, ZvZ)
- Example Bo7:
Match 1 = PvP, Player 2 wins. 0-1 (PvP, PvZ, ZvP, PvT, TvP, TvZ, ZvT, TvT, ZvZ)
Match 2 = PvZ, Player 1 wins 1-1 (PvP, PvZ, ZvP, PvT, TvP, TvZ, ZvT, TvT, ZvZ)
Match 3 = ZvP, Player 2 Wins 1-2 (PvP, PvZ, ZvP, PvT, TvP, TvZ, ZvT, TvT, ZvZ)
Match 4 = PvT, Player 1 wins 2-2 (PvP, PvZ, ZvP, PvT, TvP, TvZ, ZvT, TvT, ZvZ)
Match 5 = TvP, Player 1 wins 3-2 (PvP, PvZ, ZvP, PvT, TvP, TvZ, ZvT, TvT, ZvZ)
Match 6 = ZvT, Player 1 wins 4-2 (PvP, PvZ, ZvP, PvT, TvP, TvZ, ZvT, TvT, ZvZ)
Pro's
- No RNG deciding the outcome. For example: One players gets PvZ more often than the other resulting in a higher % chance to win the series.
- More diversity and strategy. Players get tested on all possible race match-ups. Players also have make a strategy when to play what Match-up. Do they save a good MU for them until later into the series, or do they play it early into the series?
Cons:
- Players know what race the opponent plays.
- Some people dislike mirrors ZvZ and TvT.

maybe some "match(s) of the day" could help, like in a football league
for instance: tvz and zvt makes a bo2 with 2-0 or 1-1 as possible outcomes so that the only imbalance would be the spots

Good idea and if you want to decrease with the imbalance of the positions, play on the SCW 15 - Space 3.0 map that greatly improves the imbalance of spots for example not abuse tank or nuke on spot 3 and 9 and choke more narrow on spot 12 and 6 more fair and cornes choke more wide. More balanced and the idea of premier more just. Imagine a bo9 and play the 9 games so they will play all match ups posible incluiding mirror race.

Good idea and if you want to decrease with the imbalance of the positions, play on the SCW 15 - Space 3.0 map that greatly improves the imbalance of spots for example not abuse tank or nuke on spot 3 and 9 and choke more narrow on spot 12 and 6 more fair and cornes choke more wide. More balanced and the idea of premier more just. Imagine a bo9 and play the 9 games so they will play all match ups posible incluiding mirror race.
i have seen your map, the concept is good but 12 and 6 are still smaller. have you tried x=36+10+36+10+36 or x=34+13+34+13+34?

I can not make it wider because the tank could already attack the sides and make more long size not work because the design is unbalanced with the chokes.
Making an analysis it is true that the spots 12 and 6 are smaller but as the construction is more vertical, If you build very tidy fit the same amount buildings than corner position. for example 14 factory and 21barracks with a row of turrets included.
or you talked about choke ? for me choke is perfect not very narrow as korean map and not very wide as west space map normal

you wrong wrong wrong wrong i explain on before post. Cant the spot 12 and 6 more wide because the space be 11 or 10 so tank can attack side you shoul analize more. The map is perfect space 3.0 not error a map 128x128. Im expert on maker map listen to me be obedient

x=34+13 means x=34 base and x=13 space
on your map a tank can attack from 7 to 6 although i think it happens on every vgt map since siege tank range is longer (wider) than space
as you are an expert mapmaker you know the actual size is 128x127 and the bottom is x=118 so i may teach you a trick to "free up" y=1 leftmost and rightmost

im not seeking to destroy your work which is amazing, i just wanted to share some tricks with other mapmakers and you seem to be the only one from here
i understand your point, 12 and 6 cant be wider because of tanks but they could if corners were smaller
i will pm you some examples when i have time

I finally understood you. Already before I had applied what you said to reduce the size of the corners by 34 so that the position of the medium was 36. The problem is that it is a very old map with old players will not accept that they reduce the width of the cornes easily they would realize that It is smaller with the way it builds. But if you're right, I would be more balanced if I would do it that way.
For me is better x=34+12+36+12+34

actually, the x=36+12+32+12+36 is playable but 12 and 6 chokes are sort of bad, too wide and right next to the centre, they are no choke at all
