Title: Unified Theory of korean players
Post by: Dreadlord Proletius on June 23, 2022, 02:03:14 am
so I - the great grandmaster Proletius watched a bunch of reps from those korean ppl who played in early seasons of SCW and I've come to the conclusion they weren't actually good at FMP they just had really high APM. Guys like Taeng`k and Afreeca_Brain. thoughts?

I agree with Joe. Since the Koreans have come, there's been an adaptation and evolution on how fmp is now played. I feel like everyone has almost perfected the old "vgt" strat style and the Koreans showed us how flawed it can be. Now there aren't many noobs and gamers are adopting more and more away from the standard strats as they are too predictable. Easy to scout a triple nex p, easier to stop a tvz push when you know it's coming etc. Now there are more effective high apm required strats that are much more difficult to play against and require a higher level of pressure dealing.

Good micro and good macro. If you watch their games closely, they are almost always ahead in worker count and unit count while microing better

You may need to sit this one out. It's much more than high apm..

Proletius is right in the fact that most of the Koreans did not build optimally for western fastest map as they are accustomed to Korean fastest bbalmu map

Brain, Gensay, Byul, Mong, Hamburger, Gangnamlife(inbusjaja), Shin, Lucky, Dorom arguably best koreans on fastest. Leebokgu had a period where he was as good as most of the before mentioned.

It is not jut their apm and micro/macro. Their build orders are really good and have REALLY good timings. Specifically the protoss and terran build orders are realllllly good.
