What kind of finals are these? There has been no proper planning, no live stream, and no communication or replies. It's genuinely disappointing and demoralizing for the players and the community.
It's hard to talk about "bringing the community back together" when the most important event isn't being organized or supported properly.

It is interesting how the years go by, yet they still don't grasp how to properly organize and run finals. In competitive 1v1 fastest, players choose their races to avoid unfavorable matchups; you could look at events like the ASL, KCM, and the Korean "Fastest" showmatches to understand the formats used. Beyond that, it is incredible that a community—which is quite mature by now—continues to behave like children unable to control their egos. Please, Riddick, stop making a fool of yourself by spamming your face alongside your trash results.
Regardless of the above, it was gratifying to see some of the best players from Korea and the West competing in a more respectful manner than on previous occasions.

I genuinely don’t understand why playing on a fair and balanced map hasn’t become mandatory, and why this league continues to use the same map over and over again.
We have all just witnessed that, no matter how skilled a player or team is, this map can create situations where certain games are practically impossible to win. At that point, the outcome is influenced far too much by the map rather than by skill, strategy, and performance.
I would personally be more than happy to contribute financially on a monthly basis to support the league, but I would like to see meaningful changes regarding the map and the rules. If those changes are made and the competition becomes fairer and better organized, I will gladly contribute every month.

it is a valid critique regardless of one's contribution. The map is imbalanced. That is objectively a truth. There are numerous players who decide against contributing because the map used is imbalanced, and because most of the community in SCW is extremely toxic. You enter the website and walk into a cesspool of toxicity. This league is one of the least inviting leagues in existence across almost all games across the entire board of games played competitively in the world.
Now to counter argue against my own comments, if someone cared enough about the map and the toxicity they could organize another league on their preferred map. This league does not have to change and is within its right to remain as it is. We can't demand for it to change if it functions as it is. Can things improve? certainly. Does it have to? no. Is it in the best interest of the league to not implement any changes(doesn't have to be map related)? you decide, and time will tell.
Also a lot of koreans who are legitimately good on USWEST stick to public noob bashing games because they don't have the balls to play competitively. You'll never get these to join.

You spoke like a gentleman, and I agree with you. However, I also believe that there could be some major changes in this league.

Why a game that requires higher brain involvment and strategies that have to be quickly implemented that it takes so long for us to come to the conclusion that using your emotions to relay your thoughts is no where near as powerful as simply using your head and explaining yourself like the grown person you are.

Agreed. It is nice to see there are still active and loyal players here all these years, but I think this league had potential to be big.
The only games I ever played are SC1 and AOE2 and are quite similar. Aoe2 was slowly dying/plateau for a while in 2011-2015 similar to fastest but today are now huge hosting $10k+ tourneys every month. A big difference I saw was AOE2 players started streaming on twitch and the community were all good mannered. There was so much love that even trolls got tired of getting no reaction or never being invited to a showmatch/inny game.
It seems to me toxicity stems from ego and the feeling of being anonymous. In AOE2 and Korean low $$ there are lots of meet ups and many trying to be pro/semi pro. How do you think these players participating would behave with money and their reputation on the line?
How would SC bw fastest be if the number of high level players grew and there are more sponsors?

People in these forums should be treating each other like fam, we all literally grew up together(since our early teens), I can't wrap my head around the idea of being toxic to one another, I'm closer to a few people on here than I am with personal friends, ive had personal and cool conversations with some people on here.
Early SC days I used to dislike a hand full of people but it doesn't even cross my mind to talk shit to them anymore, it's the past and we were immature children. It really is unfortunate to see you guys going at each others necks, not trying to sound like an emo but it's a justified observation and opinion, the community is far to small to be shitting on each other.

I don't know if any of the participants or organizers are familiar with the Korean SC scene, but I can share a bit of what I've seen. Their version of the "Fastest" map doesn't have such exposed up positions at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock; there is no 100% air-only terrain, and there are variations regarding whether "walls" allow for unit unloading or not.
Resource amounts are the same in all cases, but because the gas isn't "stacked," it avoids worker bugs—such as workers circling the gas geyser completely or Terran/Protoss units being unable to harvest from the center gas. This makes a huge difference, as build orders and base layouts (sim-city) must be designed to facilitate gas harvesting.
In those specific positions, reaching the "late game" is practically a guaranteed loss, as the opponent might wall off to abuse the spot, without possibility to have a fair game. Regarding Korean finals, matchups are pre-arranged to cover all possibilities without repeating matchups or forcing a player to get Zerg multiple times.
(e.g., PvT, PvZ, TvP, TvZ, ZvP, ZvT) in the event of a tie—such as PvP or RvR.
Players simply choose their races, thereby avoiding results determined by race luck. If the organizers of this league want to make improvements to attract more players, they can speak with me to discuss the aforementioned details.

I don't get why the people who have a capable PC don't stream and push this league/fastest maps. If you're going to play you might as well stream it to keep the game alive and potentially bring in newer players, they do exist out there and a lot of them are willing to learn, the English speaking demographic are forced to watch korean streams with no way of communicating or asking questions that are relevant to SC. Everyone should have taken advantage of the RM release and promoted the shit out of fastest, Idk if it's to late now but there certainly are English speakers who would like to pick up the game.

Agreed well put, but let’s be real here. It’s just Riddick, Ronin and Reeko who deliver 90% of the toxicity of this community. Take out the trash and ban those 3 and see what happens.

There's a difference between mutual banter and bringing up people's personal life into the forums. Ive seen multiple people begging to stop being harassed, ive also seen multiple people begging for the banning of x, y and z. Clearly those people aren't having fun.
Most people who I recommend the site to or know about the site end up leaving or completely avoid it because of the constant drama, this has been going on for literally YEARS and there doesn't seem to be any end to it, someone gets mad, they run to the forums and air out all their drama, rinse and repeat. It's a telenovela on here, and most people want no part in it, they want to be a part of a SC community but the toxicity turns them away and ive heard this from at least 20+ people and they say the same thing without neither of them having any relationship with each other.
I understand the behavior to some extent, people get pissed off at each other, but for 5+ years the same 2 dudes going at each other over and over and over, literally every single season? Just reading it is exhausting idk how you guys can live this way, i can't imagine it being healthy and I don't know anybody who has a healthy IRL life that finds the behavior "fun".

I don't know any of them at a personal level so I'm not going to make any assumptions, what I do know is that it turns a lot of people away from the site which is the opposite of what we need around here especially the fastest community. At least on regular maps they have a decent population of die-hard players, a solid foundation, the fastest community can't afford to lose anymore players, it would be a shame if fastest died out completely because we can't keep our emotions in check.

Any reaction you see from me is typically me being harassed over and over and over until I’ve finally responded, we’ve tried everything and Ronin, reeko, their group continue to join my live streams. I’ve banned multiple fake accounts and they just keep seeing me as their entertainment.
Sword made a deal last year that we both leave each other alone because he would get me to respond and he was using that as collateral saying I was a part of the issue. For a full year, he continued to harass me with me not saying anything back to him sword would mute him on the site.(his group because it was all of them). He’d still spam me on the game follow me into games by watching my stream. Send me messages about my daughter about my wreck, saying they wished I died during it, sexual things about my child, about my weight. I am harassed by Ronin and his group and Lucas is a part of that group, I’ve had Lucas delete my post and also say things. I make a joking post about calling people out. There is only one person on that list that I was not friends with, but they were all B+ players. Hydra is one of my best friends and I was jokingly talking shit to him. Ronin and his group spammed it made a big issue when there wasn’t one. They caused so much drama to the point that I stopped responding on the website this has happened multiple times. Lucas is quick to mute Gus, I have a screenshot of him talking shit to Gus, making fun of his mental issues and trying to antagonize arguing between him and another person on the site, while that’s going on, you have Ronin, reeko, spamming, and attacking Gus doing a group bullying thing
let me mention that none of these guys play scw anymore. The only reason they come on to this website is to cause problems.
I’ve been stocked by them for going on two years now to the point I don’t even like to go live and these are grown ass men that hate their lives and they target me for their entertainment and sadly, sword doesn’t really do much about it anymore, and Lucas leans heavily favoring his friends, than actually helping the community
As a streamer, I would be more than happy to promote SCW I’ve spoke to sword about it before I am the biggest English StarCraft fastest streamer on TikTok. I always have 40-120 ppl watching, I just hit 50 subscribers that 10$ each. But every time I’ve hit a level of success I’ve got them joining and saying some god-awful thing trying to ruin my live. Last year I went to low money for three months. I sat in the void so I couldn’t get reached and I put DND on. As soon as I came back to fastest the day that I came back, they were there joining my games following me around. They sat there and watched me for months quietly, waiting to be toxic on my stream.
When sword tried to punish Ronin and reeko,
Ronin took it upon his self to make his own website to make his own league and try to split the community and he failed miserably so the people he did convince to come over to his group of friends he convinced them to play another gameand they gave up on playing StarCraft. He is a snake.
Reeko targets new players he will only play if you don’t know how to play or you’re fairly new or if you’re like D- C rank. Nobody wants to play because they come into the channel and you got Reeko messaging them right off the bat. I’ve invited people from my stream, and this has been an issue with every single one of them. And that’s not to mention how toxic these people are because I’m not the only one they harass. I just get to the point where I get fed up and I say things back and they know it and use the one out burst as a reason why they do what they do. I could easily have 10 or more new D/C rank players if it wasn’t for them.

Not that I know anything about your drama with those guys Riddick but it is time to reflect. I am someone who literally only comes on every few days and plays a few pub games, says gg and leaves. No social interaction whatsoever, I don't even want that and I'm fine with losing against better players or even much worse players if they did well or I did something stupid. I do that for like 10 years already.
The only person I ran repeatedly into issues with is you. You probably don't even know me.
Everytime I beat you, you didn't say gg but something about me being lucky or abusing. Then you harassed me afterwards. I refuse to play you for that reason. I imagine the league misses out on hundreds of $ of donationa a season because of alienation of a group of players who would otherwise feel welcome here. the way some of you guys have treated multiple donors has been nothing short of self sabotage. Most people who can afford to miss out on a few hundred bucks a month are not the kind of people to waste their time within a toxic environment. I have since instead spent about $19,000,- on helping finance Professional daily Proleagues in Korea, purely for my own enjoyment. They are thankful and respectful for it too. I love this game, and knowing some other korean donators to Professional daily proleagues, I can guarantee you there's fellow wealthy folks out there who love the game more than I do and they have already donated well over $200,000,- individually to keep the korean pro scene alive and thriving. Just because you personally don't know anyone because you're living in a small bubble does not mean there's no people who love spending spare change on this game.
