General Discussion / Re: Donate Season 44« on: February 20, 2024, 05:02:33 pm »As I sit down to write this, my heart swells with passion and fervor for the game that has defined so much of my life: StarCraft: Brood War. With every keystroke, I am reminded of the countless hours spent strategizing, battling, and forging friendships within its rich and vibrant community. And now, with a humble donation of $25, I hope to contribute in some small way to keeping this timeless masterpiece alive. StarCraft: Brood War isn't just a game; it's a cultural phenomenon, a testament to the boundless creativity and competitive spirit of humanity. For over two decades, it has stood as the pinnacle of real-time strategy gaming, captivating players with its intricate balance, relentless action, and limitless depth. It's a game that rewards skill, dedication, and ingenuity like no other, fostering a global community of players united by their love for this timeless classic. But despite its enduring legacy, the passage of time threatens to erode the foundations of Brood War's community. As newer games emerge and technology advances, there's a risk that this masterpiece could fade into obscurity, relegated to the annals of gaming history. Yet, we refuse to let that happen. We refuse to let the flames of passion die out, to let the memories of epic battles and hard-fought victories be forgotten. That's why every donation, no matter how small, is a beacon of hope for the Brood War community. It's a symbol of our collective commitment to preserving this game for future generations, ensuring that its legacy endures for years to come. Whether it's $25 or $250, each contribution is a testament to the love and dedication that binds us together as a community. With every dollar donated, we take another step towards securing the future of Brood War. It means more tournaments, more events, more content creation, and more opportunities for players old and new to experience the magic of this game. It means investing in the infrastructure that keeps the community thriving, from servers to websites to grassroots organizations. It means supporting the players, casters, and content creators who pour their hearts and souls into keeping the Brood War flame burning bright. And so, as I make this modest donation of $25, I do so with a sense of pride and purpose. I do so knowing that every cent will be put to good use, helping to ensure that StarCraft: Brood War continues to inspire, entertain, and unite players around the world. I do so with the hope that others will join me in this noble cause, contributing whatever they can to keep the Brood War community alive and thriving. For Brood War isn't just a game—it's a legacy. And together, we will ensure that its flame never fades. 18
General Discussion / Teaching son how to play« on: February 18, 2024, 10:30:58 pm »
Today was fun. I taught my 10 year old how to play 1v1 on starcraft. He is a fast learner and was able to beat a computer (not a big deal but first day). I thought it was cool to see his excitement learning each of the units on the battlefield and his curiosity of how to make each one.
Anyways, fun dad moment. Anyone else out there show their kids how to play or get them to play? 19

But don’t get caught with your pants down, kill the valks as quick as the cars die Thats a great point and i did not think much of that. Get rid of them once their job is complete. I will have to go back and see how much psi they take up... 22

I have seen a lot of ways to do this but what's your favorite? I am starting to like using valks more and more. I realized valks can be better because it prevents the toss from getting psi back to make more units because they are soaking it all up. If you kill the cars with wraiths then psi is opened up. Lock downs are nice too for that same reason.
Whats your thoughts? 23

General Discussion / Re: does physical fitness impact SC performance?« on: December 12, 2023, 04:17:53 pm »
There was a documentary on professional StarCraft players. They have a gym routine. I think to some extent it is reasonable to say that it plays a role. If you have a hard time sitting there just breathing then something tells me you probably wont be doing well playing lol. I think people that are extremely fit though do not have an advantage.

Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Reaver pathing fix« on: December 06, 2023, 12:42:51 am »
I was just 9 o clock zerg vs protoss and used it. He couldn't push into my base no matter how hard he tried. Seemed unfair.

Thats a really cool idea. So if you win the MU that week, you get few extra points? Maybe make it a MU at a disadvantage like TZvPP lol.

Suggestions & Feedback / Reaver pathing fix« on: December 03, 2023, 05:25:05 pm »
I think it is pretty well known that reavers do not work when trying to push into someone's base. If you build in a certain way, a reaver cannot shoot something that is clearly in front of them. I am making this poll to get an idea if anyone else agrees or thinks it's a balance against PvZ or PvT. I have seen on some videos where pathing can be done incorrectly causing reavers to not be able to shoot. I think it can be fixed but I am not entirely sure.
Either way, good luck have fun! Tim |
