General Discussion / Re: SLASH CHEATING?
« on: May 06, 2021, 07:45:01 am »
Slash may be very good on a technical level, but his solos lack the soul and inventiveness of true guitar legends such as Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Hazel.  That's my opinion on the matter, anyways.

Actually, his technique is his weakest aspect of his play. He has great feel and sense for phrasing but remains somewhat simple on a technical level. In live performances he often makes tiny mistakes on solos that are somewhat "easy" to play. His greatest skill is his sense of sound.

QFT. From what I can tell by his released material, he has proclivities to very few harmonic skillsets and even less technical skillsets. Yet he's still capable of making highly-consumable material that has withstood the test of time. It goes to show how far one can go with specialization. You can practically tell a guitarist is Slash just by hearing it, even if you haven't heard the song before. (Similar to Brian May from Queen)

That said, I do personally find his play boring after about 5-10 minutes of it. I'm just into other types of guitar work, not all of which are more complicated than what Slash does.

why is making fun of someone for having an illness like drug addiction any better? You're seriously a dick man. idk why you even started attacking me personally about my private life. Btw I haven't touched any drug in a year so I don't know what "drugged out stupor" you're talking about. You are an arrogant asshole who thinks highly of yourself but sadly others do not. I went to op ugl today and everyone there told me ur toxic get overself buddy. If I was as bad at sc as you are I guess is run my mouth about irrelevant shit. You make me laugh allen

I'm not making fun of you for having been addicted to drugs. I am friends with plenty who have been and are. I have been (but no heavies, fortunately). Congrats on your sobriety, and I mean that.

I'm making fun of you for believing in reptile politicians and driving a car while on acid. These are all choices you decided to make, perhaps many years ago when you traded the future for the present and started doing heavy drugs in the first place. That's a choice, my dude. People can make fun of me for my choice to be an asshole on an old forum for an even older game. Choices are fair game.

I promise you Idgaf what these mfs in OP UGL think about whether or not I'm toxic. All of my self-worth is derived internally, as should yours be. Why do you give a shit what I think anyway? I am no authority. You are the authority of your emotions. Like you're really admitting to seeking public validation about your feelings towards me from people who are probably equally fucked up in a channel on a game where I'm not even present. Why delegate the responsibility of finding self-worth to someone else? That is YOUR responsibility my dude.

But I guarantee I don't make you laugh. I make you angry and probably a plethora of other negative emotions. But did I do that or did you? I'm only repeating things you've said publicly. It seems to me there is latent shame & anger about those things. Understandable. We've all done some dumb stuff in our past that doesn't end up defining who we are now. But sometimes they leave a big ol' scar that does at least partially define who we are. And that scar for you is how we can't have a conversation without you talking about wild conspiracy theories that you can only believe because you destroyed your brain voluntarily. You're clinging for meaning in the wildest of places because you won't take responsibility for things you can actually control.

Also, SC is "irrelevant shit". Anyone actively participating with others in reality knows this. And I don't think too highly of myself. I just don't think very highly of you, and that contrast is something you choose to perceive negatively towards me (victim mindset) instead of yourself or not at all (responsibility mindset).

ASL behavior has direct consequences for a player's reputation and ability to interact with other players outside of the ASL. Bad behavior in general in the Korean top level community results in being black listed from the community forever.

Probably comes from the sheer size of the community. I remember it used to be like that in like 06-08. We're scrounging for scraps at this point though haha.

Would be funny to charter flights for everyone in this community and get them all together in a single place at the same time. I bet the amount of fighting and bickering would be significantly less lol. And also I think people would be able to pick up on what's a joke and what isn't a little better too.

Maybe your conception of reality is flawed?

It almost certainly is lol. Inherent in all humans I believe. Not too flawed for me to participate in a shared reality with others to a high degree of 'success' though.

To be clear, I don't think I'm better than anyone on here. I'm not talking all this shit with some delusion of superiority. They're just observations, most of which have merit.

I could easily just ignore the dumb stuff I see, but that wouldn't be nearly as fun. At the end of the day I'll die in a puddle of my own shit and piss like the rest of you.

This guy claims to 'keep it real' and if bm starts he 'finishes' it LOL.

All I see is a pub who is genuinely bad StarCraft and loves to type long ass paragraphs to prove his 'linguistic abilities'.

Scrub <3

All I see is a lost guy who was telling a random stranger the other day that he wasn't a "real man" because he grew up without a father. Not too concerned what your opinion is of me. Your concept of reality is also way out of touch.

Lo and behold, premier is the most 'correct' out of all of us.

I don't get why such a noob idiot even speaks. Please exit the universe you're no longer needed here

I proved your point? When "eat dick" and "your sense of reality is heavily distorted by your previous heavy drug use" makes you type 3 rapid-fire incoherent comments about how I should kill myself, each filled with name calling that lack any substance, I think maybe you don't know what toxic or asshole means. If anything, you proved your own point and projected it onto me.

You have a tighter grasp of your dick than you do on reality. If you had any semi-coherent sense of reality, I might take your feedback seriously. But until you regrow some of the brain cells you voluntarily killed, maybe you should stay in your fuckin lane. Not my fault you've smoked and tripped yourself into a permanent stupor.

Allen you're pretty bm and toxic yourself so please be quiet

First off, eat my dick. Secondly, if you were paying attention you'd notice that I literally never start it. But you literally have drugged most of your mental bandwidth out of your body, and I am not surprised that you don't have the resources to process that.

I'ma give the social critiques I wanna give (and they're right, despite the perceived irony). You can give the feedback you wanna give. But your perspective is incomplete and shallow. I can give you a list of people that I'm BM with, and 100% of this list had a problem with me before I had a problem with them. I keep it real. I don't start the shit, but I do keep it going (and often finish it). Like I've said, competitive banter is fine. MFs need to lighten up for the most part.

What I'm talkin about is the stuff about peoples' lives that they cannot control. Catch me fuckin with someone about something they were born with and/or can't control. Maybe in 2006, when I was a kid, but not here in 2017+ as an adult. You're delusional if you think otherwise.

I'll make fun of you for believing in the illuminati and reptile politicians. I won't make fun of you for being brought up in certain conditions or for tragic events that have happened in your life outside of your control/influence. There's levels to this shit.

Edit: forgot a word (brought UP*)

There's no rule that prohibits smurfing. There is a rule that prohibits smurfing to get around a suspension

Yeah I reckon my first sentence was a bit of a misnomer. The league would be way better if it facilitated smurfing and encouraged it. And I think that doing so would have likely prevented each of these instances of cheating. We just have a broken culture that I'm sure is hurting league activity. It's the same old people because most gamers split off into pods and keep to themselves to avoid the toxicity. People have historically not been able to smurf without being outed or confirmed by you or Stalker (who definitely did it more) to a curious friend.

Just got ourselves a broken culture here, but what else can you expect when over 50% are on this game because they're running from problems IRL. Just makes it suck for (some of) the people who want to play egoless StarCraft because the game is awesome.

(and again, I'm not talking about regular, run of the mill competitive bm)

Thing is Hydra was banned while he played on this account

Yeah, just went and researched it. Thing is, same with Ronin (The~Power) and you, the embarrassment lies the person who shared the account, not the person who played on it.

But even then, I bet the cheating would go down if Ronin or you could just easily smurf and not need to feel compelled to let other people play on your accounts. And if Hydra and Cole could easily smurf, they wouldn't probably feel like taking the opportunity to play on a "believable" smurf.

In an era with no real problem with hacks, it just feels kind of obvious to allow this to happen. I don't think any player is entitled to know the identity of another player unless they are actively cheating in a way that undermines the integrity of the game.

And for perspective so you know where I'm at, this kind of cheating to me is: hacks, sharing accounts (especially in top 10 situations), obs cheating of any kind,  stream peaking, playing the same noob over and over again, picking race last second, leaving because of race/spots, and deliberate disconnecting. And on the disconnecting front, I think either party is a loser for reporting (since it's usually incidental), but I understand that some of these low level players do disc on purpose and not just because they're half way across the world from another player.

League would be 100% better if it just allowed smurfs. Most of the "cheating" is from people who want to smurf anyway. Nothing wrong with smurfing IMO, and it probably leads to higher quality, more creative gameplay.

How many people would play on someone else's account halfway through the season if they could actually have an infrastructure built around their ability to effectively smurf from the get-go? IMO it's much more embarrassing to be the person who shares their account than the better person who plays on it.

Only instance I can think of that doesn't fit this mold is when Cole played on Kon's account in that tournament, but even then there was a 'reasonable' excuse about Kon having to move or some bullshit and not being able to conform to the timing of the tournament. Not good, but also not completely difficult to understand. Tournament coulda just been postponed since, you know, none of these mfs are professionals in any way and their lives cannot revolve around these arbitrary timings all the time. And also Kon coulda just dropped out. Either were better options, but I can't see how any of these incidents at all had to do with "cheating" to win, more than "cheating" to move around arbitrary, borderline useless bureaucracy.

Anyway I could be missing some things. I've been out for basically three months. Pretty neat that Hydra was able to get another account into the top 5 shitting on mfs with alternate play style. I want to see more of that, not motivated by circumventing bans, but just by playing with anonymity. Not hard to understand that given how toxic and cowardly most of the active, but not yet A players, are.

And by toxic, I definitely don't mean just bm. Jose bms indiscriminately, but he doesn't really single anyone out and he also usually doesn't start it. Competitive trash talk is fine, but some of these nerds make it personal, not recognizing how sad it is, and then do absolutely nothing to back it up. People want to avoid that. Top players, mid-level players, and shitass players alike.

This is what happens when Unit Limits are set to Original instead of Extended. It's an ancient BW bug that's been around the whole time that they were only able to fix by adding the unit limit options into remastered.

General Discussion / Re: Hydra is Despicable
« on: February 11, 2021, 07:35:51 am »
Yo Alex, I feel like I see some truth that's worth sharing. Please take it with a huge truckload of salt, but here's my perspective:

Making light of or using the death of a loved one to hurt someone isn't very cool (although, fuck I might do it if it's gonna help me win a game or if I really don't like the person). Starting off those convos bm isn't cool either (although I'd probably do that too, especially if I thought messing with the other ego involved would get me a game).

The thing that's the most concerning though is how this is even on your radar as a way to spend your time. It's a self worth issue.

You'll probably never meet Hydra, and he'll probably never have a profound personal impact on any of your future successes. It's literally not worth caring at all about what he (or anyone you'll meet on here) thinks about you as a person if they're not being constructive (and perhaps even then). You seem to have a want/need for validation that must be filled (I think we all do), but it seems from the outside that you might be trying to fill it with people from this community. There are probably less than 10 people on here worth letting have that kind of responsibility, and even less would be compassionate about the opportunity when it comes--especially when you BM them consistently (first? not important).

I think if you wake up every day with a clear head and focus on what you want to make out of life (especially hard for a lot of people) and are actively making progress--even if it's just baby steps--you'll realize that you have the trust and authority to validate your own self. It doesn't need to come from competitors on a war game. It doesn't need to even come from people you know IRL. It's a personal thing. At some point, we all must own this personal responsibility. At least it seems so to me. It seems to be the only viable path to sustainably increasing self worth.

Congrats on #1 K rank btw. Clearly putting in that work.
