Season 2 will start on November 4th, 12:00 PM US eastern time. The current prize pool is $100 for winner of 1v1. The league will be hosted in Op UGL@USWEST and the game engine will be StarCraft: Brood War.

Season 1 of SCW has officially begun. The season will last until Oct 15, 2017 23:59:59 US Eastern Time. Two maps are allowed for league games, and they are both available for download on the "Join league" page, or below: • SCW 01 - Space.scm• SCW 01 - Super BBal Mu.scmPrize money will be distributed at the end of the season as follows: • 1v1 #1 will receive $300 USD • 1v1 #2 will receive $150 USD • 1v1 #3 will receive $75 USD • 2v2 #1 will receive $100 USD You must have a paypal account in order to accept this transfer. I'm looking for someone who can make a banner that will look really good on the site. It is meant to replace the 'StarCraft World' header at the top of the page. There are no particular dimensions that we need; if it doesn't fit too well we can stretch it or center (or whatever looks best), but part of the challenge is to determine the dimensions that will make it look nice when placed at the top of the page.
All banner candidates should be posted on this topic. If the banners are good enough, the winner will be determined by a vote sometime next week, and $100 will be awarded to the creator of the banner (you must have a paypal account to accept this transfer).
The candidates so far are attached to this post.
The only rules are that it must be legal to put on the website (e.g. we cannot use a copyrighted image).

One of SCD's strong suits was an active forum community. Even people who no longer played the game returned to the site regularly and participated in discussions. What kind of things does SCW and this forum need in order to foster such a community? Any input is appreciated

Hello gamers,
We have fixed the vast majority of bugs in the league, and season 1 is ready for launch. Thanks for everyone who participated in this effort.
The beta season will close on 11:59 PM US Eastern Time on Friday, September 1. Season 1 will open 12 hours later.
Things to note:
* Season 1 will be a Brood War only season. In the future we may have a StarCraft original league, or seperate ladders
* A league map(s) will be posted the day of the opening, and this map will be required for all league games
* We are gathering a prize pool for the leaders of the 1v1 leaderboard of season 1. There are already some volunteers; any further contributions will be highly appreciated. The prize pool will be announced on the day of the opening

Starting now, a point system has been put into affect. Existing games won't be affected, but games reported from now on will be based on rank, rather than a constant +75/-35. The details of the rank system will be posted in the near future.

Hello gamers,
The beta season of StarCraft World, the new league for StarCraft Fastest Map gaming, is now launched.
Site still under construction
Please keep in mind:
* The website is still under construction, and season 1 will not be launched until all of the bugs have been fixed, and full league functionality is available.
* you will probably see the site layout and the graphics changing frequently in the next few days as the site gets developed
* there is no special map for the beta season, you can use any past FMP map, including VGT, SCD, or UGL maps
* you can upload your wins and download any games, but there is no letter rank system yet. This is being developed and will be incorporated into season 1. For now, you will receive 75 points for every win, and pay 35 points for every loss
* there might be bugs in the reporting system or site functionality. If so, please create a thread reporting the bug and we will have this fixed right away
League Name
The chosen league name "StarCraft World" is totally flexible at this moment, and can be changed without losing anything else. If you can come up with a cool-sounding name that has a nice 3-letter acronym, let us know!
Channel Status
We will be using Op UGL@USWEST for the time being due to many players being accustomed to that channel, however we will likely be switching to a channel that more appropriately reflects the new league name in the near future.
Brood War or StarCraft Original?
Every league has to eventually decide whether it will host a BroodWar or a StarCraft original competition. For the time being, the beta season will allow games from both platforms. However, it is likely that season 1 will be a Brood War season. We realize that the most competitive FMP community on USWest has traditionally played StarCraft original. There are several reasons we will be trying out BroodWar:
* the vast majority of players on USWest, whether they are new players or returning gamers, are currently on Brood War
* Especially with a surge in activity generated by the launch of StarCraft: Remastred, BroodWar will be more welcoming to casual players, new gamers, low money players, and members from the Korean FMP community
