Playing games with different speeds (#x2.0, #x1.5)
« on: June 28, 2019, 03:31:15 am »
Hey, new guy here who someone in this league recruited.  I was wondering whether it's possible for games to count if they're played at different speeds.  We tried it earlier and the guy said his win against me didn't count, but it'd be cool if that could be a feature that you guys can add.  I'm not knowledgeable about computers and programming, so I don't know if it's possible, or how difficult it would be to implement, but that's just my thought.

It WOULD be nice though!  I used to play VGT and SCD and recently came back to SC, aKa I'm in my 30s now and don't have as much time to play long games as I used to.  I'm guessing a lot of these current players are in my same age group as well.

Thanks!

playing a real game on x2 speed is impossible. players have 300 apm on regular speed and still make mistakes.. you would need 700+ apm to play high level x2 games.

You're right.  The games themselves would be more sloppy, but it's an exaggeration to state that it's impossible.  You see these games being played all the time in pubs.  X2 speed places Terran in disadvantage and gives Zerg more of an advantage, but at 1.4/1.5x it's not as difficult to micromanage Terran.

My suggestion, however, is more along the lines of if both parties consent to playing at a different speed, is it possible for the programmers to count these games?

There's no challenge. And the rules do allow it:

All latency and game speed settings are allowed as long as agreed upon by all players.
